I am a racist
Not in the sense that I feel my "race" is better than any others (I don't even feel people are "superior" to animals). But you see I'm a human being, a member of the race known as Homo Sapiens, let's just call it humanity. And I object to those humans that feel their specific self interests are more important than the interests of humanity as a whole.
On this Martin Luther King day let me say that I think we'd agree on these points. MLK died as a hero against those who would suppress others because of the myth of racism. But I think he really wanted to bring all of the people of humanity together. There are NO races within humanity. No sub races, no inferior or superior races. There is only humanity. And what's good for humanity is what's important, not one part of humanity and not any one person's desires to keep others down.
We need to grow from thinking there are races within humanity to realizing we are one big race and what's good for each of us is good for the whole. We need to expand our point of view rather than make it smaller. That was MLK's message.
Black or white, whatever color, we are humans. And we NEED people, of whatever skin color or background, we need talent and people willing to work for the betterment of humanity. Full stop.
